This build had some very specific requirements. The area has a very limited space, that is just a recess into the wall. The desk had to fit within the area, and also needed to have a space to hold the entire audio/video mixer and equipment. I made a large cherry base to hold all the media equipment with air circulation as well as space for wiring. The top is a pecan slab finished with hard wax finish and ceramic topcoat for smooth protection of the surface. I then made a custom surround sound to go around the area to make it a private area, with a door entry.
The Surround is made from 8/4 cherry and I created a matt black backing for it and then placed live edged spalted pecan inserts in it. This made a nice private entry for the media group to separate it from the rest of the room.
An interesting tidbit, I also made the custom media streaming server for this build. It is a AMD ryzen 16/24 core threadripper cpu, 8 gig Nvida graphics, 64gig ram and 3 24" monitors. If you are interested in my computer work, see my other website at DavillaTech.
