A friend of mine has a stack of old wood that was used for years in a construction company. They used the wood for laying down across ditches for heavy machinery and trucks to drive over and keep them from getting stuck in the mud. I purchase this wood and make projects from it from time to time.
This bench has quite a bit of spalting in it and lots of color. I put bow ties in it to fix a crack that ran along the top of the bench. I also filled the crack with epoxy. The bottom rail is pinned on each side using purple heart. This is some beautiful wood but a lot of work to get it usable, which is typical for reclaimed lumber.
